My problem is that I have not found a more comprehensive version than that single image shape test. So from that I am pretty sure he is red / green colorblind (not sure scientific term). He traced the yellow circle just fine, but couldn't trace the red square basically. Next I tried having him trace the shapes with his finger instead and that felt like more of a solid way to test him. I tried to ask him to point to the shapes by naming them and the red on green was kinda "inconclusive" because couldn't tell if he was pointing to the square or pointing out that shape of test itself was square. I found one with circles and squares which is the kind of thing I'm looking for since he knows his shapes.

I can ask "Where is the number" but they're all in the middle of the page so that makes it hard to know if he actually saw them.
